Probably for a price conscious person, yes. I believe the battery is black with the white label on it. Jep, gonna do this too! My understanding is the C shipped with a mAhour battery. I applied the same principles for my Garmin Nuvi W and it worked like a charm.

While prying mine up, I noticed that their was a thin dark gray plastic wrap around the batter and I simply ran a razor blade on both ends to cut the wrap, then pulling up c283 wrap was very simply. This might be a naive thought, so please correct me if I am way off.

C328 pop the rubber covers off, take the two screws out, snap the cover off carefully and read uusb battery label.
